Alcove units & shelving
The classic Bath problem, solved properly: cabinets and shelves scribed to uneven chimney breasts and period walls.
About
Founded by Ricky Hehir, the Bath workshop brings together a BSc in Product Design and over seven years’ experience making bespoke furniture. Ricky combines digital design, technical CAD drawing and careful project management with hands-on making.
His experience includes working on high-end commissions in London and making one-off pieces for private clients, as well as solid timber furniture for brands focused on sustainable materials. He has brought that experience back to Bath.
Ricky takes your project from the first conversation through design, making and installation. Whether it’s an awkward alcove or a room that needs better storage, he considers how it will work as carefully as how it will look.
Approach
An eye for design. Ricky’s product design training helps him see the possibilities in an awkward room. Measured drawings set out the proportions, storage and layout before making begins, so you can see what’s proposed and discuss the details.
Obsession with detail. Well-made joints, a neatly chamfered edge and a finish that suits everyday use all make a difference. Sprayed finishes, timber oils and colour choices are considered alongside the construction, not left until the end.
Material integrity. Solid timber, rich veneers and high-grade plywood each have their place. Ricky chooses materials around the piece, your space and your budget, with the same attention given to fitting it into your home.

01
The classic Bath problem, solved properly: cabinets and shelves scribed to uneven chimney breasts and period walls.

Tables, sideboards, desks and benches in solid timber — pieces designed to move house with you.
04
Calm, uncluttered walls that hide the cables and show off the things you love.
05
Window seats, under-stair storage, boot rooms and the odd jobs no catalogue can answer.
